Almost purchased a new GM DM yesterday but think I'll keep the 2002 Chevy 2500HD with the 8.1 engine. It's paid for and has been trouble free and only has 65,000 miles. Wondering how many other 8.1 owners have 100,000 plus miles and if they have been trouble free. Back in the old days I traded vehicles every two years but just choke at the price now days.
Thanks

Trading vehicles every two years does not make economic sense. Never has.

After 100,000 miles is SHOULD be just about broken in. Why change if what you have is working?

I have an 04 Suburban with the 8.1 and so far it has been trouble free except for the oxygen sensor but I don't attribute that to the motor. I've got about 65,000 miles on it so far. Great motor!

This topic has been covered before...My 6.0L Chevy has 121k miles. I just recently had to replace the starter and trans cable but other than that, its running very well.

FYI I have seen hundreds of vehicles with over 200k miles on them foreign and domestic....It does not make sense to get a new one every two years....That's an unnecessarily endless bill.

Wow!

Likely 301,500 Km = 180,000 miles.

Having said that, the 8.1L is designed to last 250,000 miles according to some stuff I have seen on the Workhorse RV chassis.

I don't have a 8.1, I have the 6.0, it is paid for and only about 60K on the whole thing, I plan on driving it for another 10 years unless it blows up or something like that.
