Well, I went to top up my Trojan 6V batteries last night in the dark (using a flashlight to see) and accidently overfilled one by about 1/8". Can I remove it? What do I do with it if I do remove it?

I really don't think it will be a problem. Just forget about it and go camping.

As long as it can vent through the slots in the split ring I would leave it as is.
If you filled it to the brim with no space to vent then you need to take some out.

I swiped my wife's turkey baster for filling batteries. There's room for a light while filling so I can see what I'm doing. It also works well on ATV batteries.....

It should be able to vent through the split ring (I'll confirm tonight) so I guess I'll leave it. The odd thing is that it was either over filled when I bought it in May, or it lost absolutely no water during the whole summer since I added very little water to it.

Remove the extra store it in a jar or plastic container and wait until the same cell needs water later. Use it up then to top off the SAME cell. That will restore the acid ratio as it should be.

There is plenty of room above the plates for liquid. I doubt you overfilled it enough to matter. I got a battery water container that has a spout that won't let you overfill. When the battery fluid level gets to the end of the spout it stops fillling. I have used it for many years on many different batteries. Sure makes it easier!

I've had the same two coaches batters for two years, I use it for five months each year, that's ten months of solid use. I used to check the batteries every few weeks, then every few months, now once a year. I don't think I have put in more then pint between all the cells in the hole time I've had them. Has me scratching my head every once in awhile, but I guess it's how much you discharge and the rate of recharge, your guess is as good as mine.

Note I had to change the chassis battery just a week ago. Go figure.

I haven't looked in my wet cell batteries since the coach was new. We installed one of these Pro Fill. A bit pricey, but once you use one, you'll never use anything else. Sure beats one hand for the turkey baster, one for the flashlight and one for the mirror. Camping World has them too.

For $68, it would be worth it. Seeing into the rear cells is a PITA.
