I started looking on the internet last night for Campgrounds along I-77 in WV or VA. I will be checking the CG directory out in the coach later today.
I didn't find anything on the internet, other than what looked like cow-pasture CGs.
Any suggestions for an over-night stopping point? Personally I would just pull into a Wal Mart or Cracker Barrel or Flying J for the overnight stop but my wife is not comfortable with the idea.
We've stayed in all of following Wal-Marts on more than one occasion and have never had a problem of any kind. There are usually other RV's there as well when we go south after Christmas and come back home in early April.
Statesville, North Carolina (Off I-77)
Take exit #51 off I-77 and go west on I-40. Take exit #151 off I-40 to Sullivan Rd., turn right and then right again to 1116 Crossroads Dr. (a little hard to see the street so be careful you don’t miss it). Total distance off I-77 is less than 2 km. No wi-fi available. There is a nice Appleby restaurant in the plaza!
Fayetteville, West Virginia (on Hwy #19)
Wal-Mart visible from Highway #19, on the east side at the Fayetteville stoplight (up the hill and to the north east of the intersection).
Summersville, West Virginia (On Hwy #19)
Wal-Mart at Hwy #41, on the west side of Hwy #19 at the stoplights (next to Appleby’s restaurant). Just on the southern edge of Summersville. Visible from Hwy #19.
Clarksburg, West Virginia (Off I-79)
Take exit #117 (from south) or exit#119 (from north). This Wal-Mart is on the east side of I-79. The sign is visible from I-79. There is also a Sam’s Club store on the same street between exits 117 &119. There is also an Applebee’s restaurant within walking distance from the Wal-Mart store (across the street).

Fancy Gap VA KOA, is easy to get to off I-77.. Nice place to camp.
It is a great place to use as homebase for a BlueRidge Parkway and surrounding area.
KOA is a stop over place, I have noticed this when we stay here.. Campers in late and out early. Not many places to eat in fancy gap, so if you need a meal stop at the Hillsville exit. Wyhtville has 2 Flying J around I-77&I-81 junction and lots of places to eat. Cracker barrel is a pain to get in and out of.

Fox Trail Campground is located at exit 8 in Fancy Gap Va. Phone # 276.728.7776. Stayed there a few years ago, lots of room to park, full hook-ups and 50 amp service.. Just off of I-77.. T-10
Camp Creek SP in WV is easy access to the interstate. It will be the most reasonably priced CG for an overnight. Fort Chiswell RV Campground, I believe Ext 80 on 81/77, has FHUs and cable, etc. I'm not a fan of RV parking lots, but I'd stay there again if I wanted to fool with all the amenities.
Well after looking at all the reviews and the Woodall's I decided on Ft. Chiswell RV Park.
It has great reviews for what looks like a park aimed at over-nighters. Full hook-up pull-through for $30 and about 1/2 mile from I-77.
It's about 30 miles further than I originally planned on but that's not a real issue. It's just past half-way to Myrtle Beach from NW Ohio.
We always have a late start on our first day since I have to jockey the tow dolly from the garage area on an alley, bring it to the street, pull the dolly from the car, get the mh onto the street and hook-up and then get the car on the dolly. (whew) Rinse and repeat in reverse when we finally get home. And I can't even think about starting the process before 8:00am since the neighbors cars on parked on the street and I don't have room to get it all hooked together until they leave for work.
Anyway, I'll post my thoughts about the cg when we get settled in at MB.

It is now the Fancy Gap KOA. Real convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway
I have camped at ft chiswell twice in the last 4 months (comming and going from the midwest). ok overnight stop. I didnt find anything that i would want to stay at in wva. There is a campground in beckley at the coal mine demonstration site, but i will not try that again. road up to the campground is very steep and narrow and has a very sharp and steep turn about 1/2 way up. Watch I-77 in wva, I found it to be a little on the rough side, and tolls have almost doubled last month.
