...and cause damage, mildew, or mold. So after searching, I had decided this was my weekend "Mod" to perform. I had seen this similarly done on someone's mod page. However, the gap was so wide on mine that I had to get PVC Quarter Round for the base.

Here is the before, by the sink:

Here is the shower surround before:

Here is the Sink Side, after:

I still have to get a trim piece of board for the sink base. I also put a corner splash guard on the other side of the shower surround.

Just thought I'd share...

Looks GREAT!

I have a terrible time trying to caulk neatly.

Nice job.

You may want to remove the caulk from around the bottom of the shower surround though. That area is meant to be open for ventilation behind the surround. The base goes up the wall several inches and you should not have any issue with water getting into that area without caulking.

Here's a way to do caulking that might help. Put a strip of masking tape at the top and bottom of the area you want to caulk, then put the caulking.
Put some dish soap in a small bowl, dip your finger in it and pass it over the caulking to smooth it......That way it won't stick to your finger. Let it sit a bit and remove the masking tape.

Good luck

He's right about caulking around the shower base you know. Should not be there.

Well that shows my newbness to RVing. Commonsense told me that I wouldn't want any moisture setting there. If no water gets in there at all and you use the ventilation fan, may I ask what difference it would make?

Thanks Again and please forgive my ignorance.

Don't feel bad GoneRooing, I did the same thing to the shower of my new Roo. I think I'll contact Forest River and see what they say about doing this.

Your job looks real nice. I'm not sure I agree with those who recommend not caulking the surround. Your bathroom at home is well sealed, why should it be different in the RV - especially since moisture is far more damaging in the RV than at home.

Mine is caulked from the factory at the pan/wall seam. The surround onto was left un-caulked, probably to allow air and expansion.

I don't see how caulking it is going to hurt the area, the base has a 1" lip and the surround sits in it.

As clean a job as it is i would leave it alone, should be open at the top for ventilation.
However...they are right,it wasn't necessary.
