We have had our 2008 5th wheel for about 10 months and within the last week the Suburban water heater makes an unusual noise whenever the hot water faucet is turned on. The noise sounds like water being push through a bent hose--kind of a continuous groan noise. I have checked and there are no filters and there are no bent hoses or pipes. Again the noise just started all at once and has continued. I have a feeling the continious noise, when the hot water is being drawn out of the tank, is caused by some type of screen that might be partially blocked. There doesn't appear to be any reduction in the hot water pressure at the faucets. I have listened to the noise and it is definitely coming from the hot water pipe coming out of the water heater. Does any one have any ideas?
It probably is the check valve in the line at the water heater exit. These have a habit of making noise. It won't hurt anything - just annoying. They are not expensive and easy to replace if you have easy access to the back of the heater where the lines connect.
