I have order this inverter, but now as I think about it. This inverter does not have a charger, nor does my rig have a charge/convert to charge the batteries back up. Should I cancel the order and step up to the prosine 2.0 with inverter/charger? Or is there something I can do like purchase a charger for the coach batteries or I should be all right becuase I only want to use the inverter while overnighting while on the road and going down the road. I do not want to use is for boon docking.

I do have a generator, but I am on the paranoid side when it comes to running the genny at night while I sleep. I will run during the day, but at night no way.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi shortyhd,

I find it hard to believe that a Georgetown doesn't have a converter.

Get a separate converter. http://www.bestconverter.com/Xantrex-XADC-Converter-Charger_c_115.html

How are you going to wire in the 1800? If it is a hardwire it only has a 15 amp transfer switch.

Cheasaco dealership stated no converter. Camping world doing the install. If there was a converter what would it look like? I am new to this electric stuff so help me. I am not handy but good at paying others to fix so I am trying to figure if I am making the right purchase.

Where are the manuals for the RV.? It would be pretty strange to have arig without as that is what runs the 12 volt system When you are on AC power.

Most converters are simple looking boxes with an AC (120 volt ) plug and two DC conections plus and minus and a chassis ground and can be located anywhere.

CW would be able to tell you for sure and recommend something.

It will be a metal box probably tucked into the 120v/12v distribution panel. You could try plugging in and see if the house battery voltage increases to about 13.5 volts (engine off).

I have the ProSine 2.0 and think very highly of it, but then we mostly dry camp. There is another advantage to the 3 stage chargers, even if you are on shore power frequently. A 3 stage charger is gentler on your batteries when they are fully charged. A converter typically has a higher float voltage than a 3 stage, because they need to do some battery charging, so is a compromise. The ProSine actually lets the battery truly float- it quits charging until it's needed again. You can leave hooked to shorepower without fear of cooking the batteries. A typical converter is a very slow battery cooker. You can also tailor the charging of the ProSine 2.0 as you and your batteries like it.

I have a Prosine 1800 in my alt-power setup in my home. You are correct, no built-in charger.

I added an Iota 75 Amp charger to the battery bank to replenish what the sun can't via a solar PV array on the roof.

I would suggest an email to Georgetown to find out where a converter would be located in your model. Mine is under the bed when raised you can see it behind the main breaker box. I had a pull camper once where it was under the cook stove oven. I panel had to be removed to get to it.
I've been looking at a 373ds Georgetown this week. I can go to my dealer and find out where it is on the 08 and 09 models since they have both in stock. I'll write back tomorrow.
