I have a Honda EU2000 generator for backup in case of a power failure at the condo. I try to run it about once a month and keep Stabil in the gas. After a hot August it wouldn't idle with out significant surging. It ran OK under load, but the rough idle made using the automatic "Eco Throttle" a problem. It would smooth out if I choked it a little. My guess is that the extra August heat in the garage cooked off some gas in the carburetor leaving some sludge or varnish.

I found some online suggestions to use a product called Seafoam in the gas. I don't like fuel additives but I didn't like the rough idle even more.

I changed out the fuel to fresh without improvement. I added the Seafoam and let it run for about 30 minutes. No improvement. Ran it a few days later for 30 minutes. No improvement. A few more days later I tried again and it ran smoothly! Apparantly patience and soaking help.

I guess the Seafoam works!

Good stuff. I recently freed up some smoking that I thought was stuck rings by putting it in through the spark plug hole and letting it sit.

Anyone got a good source for it? It is up to $10 a can at my local store. With all the family vehicles and toys, I need to buy it by the case or barrel.

One of my Hondas has the same problem. Where did you purchase the Seafoam?

I can't use it for much without gas in it! So about every 6 months or so I add some gas to DW's car. She is always pleasantly surprised by the improvement in her milage records.
