I have noticed that some members seem to go to the same place or 2 and never go anywhere else. I understand if you are still working and can only get away for a week or so. But I'm really asking the ones that seem to be in our age bracket (late 50's early 60's) and are retired, why not venture out and travel? I can't imagine us going to the same place over and over. So just wondering, what makes you go to the same place?

Different folks have different interests. I enjoy travel but to others it's just like work. I enjoy the trip TO someplace as much as being there and others would just as soon go to sleep and wake up when they're there. Nothing wrong with different life styles as long as they're what YOU want to do.

Guess I'm guilty. I keep going to the Florida Keys. It's only a 5 day drive.

States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.

I like to go different places but do go back to some repeatedly, like Gettysburg. It's a comfort zone for me, familiar like an easy chair, relaxing, and enjoyable, generally with no unpleasant surprises. Some people like to unwind on vacation, some like to get wound up. Vacations to some mean constant movement, to others little movement at all.

Life is too short to spend it all in one place!

I found a place I like and can afford -six months for 2400$ + electric and taxes. Add the health insurance for the wife and myself, over 2500$, plus gas for 3500 miles. There are some other places even less expensive but I prefer the one we go to.

When we retired and hit the road in 2006, we thought that we might tour the country. However, when we got to the Asheville, NC area, we found lots of Blue Grass music, plenty of vegetarian markets and restaurants, and lots of hiking trails in the mountains. We liked the area so much that now we stay here in the summer months. Works for us.

This is our first year of complete retirement and have logged about 3500 miles and 6 weeks on the road with two cats and would have been on road longer but hit a deer about 800 miles from home (first ever deer) and came home to get the truck repaired and have just called it a year. I think for the first time we haven't done too bad. Next year we plan on staying out longer and going to all new places in the southwest.

We often go to some of the same campgrounds for 2 reasons...One is they are nice and close to home since we can't make long term trips. Second, we like camping boating at a lake about 1-1/2 hrs from home.

I generally visit the same c/g repeatedly. I could go any where I want, but I found a nice clean well kept place. I know what to expect, the people that frequent this c/g are usually the same folks. Lot of things to do in the area. A fishing lake, great restaurants so why take chances. I do like to travel, but have reached a point after 40 years of just keeping it simple. Then I head to Florida for the winter, and 3 more months of the same c/g.

We are both retired from gainful employment, and we did make a 3,000 mile trip through the southwest this year, but getting away for long spells is difficult with a 93 year old mother to look after and lots of commitments at church, etc.

We sold our vacation home at the lake last year, so we can concentrate on RVing and parking by different bodies of water. When we can't get far enough away to do that, we go to nearby state and county parks to unwind and have a change of scenery. Just came back from a park that is 8 miles from home!! Had a great time.
