I have a Honda 3000 generator. I'm looking at 28-30 ft. 5th wheel RVs. It's a little heavy to move around much and appears that there is no way to stow it in the available 5th wheel storage areas. Our plans are to stay in some places with no electrical service so I think it would be nice to have along. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to bring it along.

IMO, You will wish you had it if you leave home without it. We use ours several times when without hook ups. Granted mine is built in and I don't have the strain of loading it.
Just a few weeks ago, I was camped by a 5th wheel. He had his 3000 watt genset mounted on the rear bumper. He showed me how he opened the rear window and could start and stop the genset from inside. Real neat....Just a thought.

I think that you'll find that there is a way to stow it in the 5th wheel storage areas... most have at least one compartment with a giant door. Of course, lifting it might be a chore.

When I was FT off the grid, I used a yamaha e1000is to great effect. Wouldn't run the AC or toaster though.

If you end up getting one with a by-the-landing-gear large generator compartment, I have a Dometic 4000 I'm looking to get rid of. Super quiet. You can buy it from me at most reasonable rates in Issaquah, Washington.

You can have a reciever hitch put on your rig. Then add one of those platforms that fit the hitch and mount gen to it.

Being that you already own the Honda 3000 why not just carry it in the bed of your truck. You could chain it down and just use a long cord to use it when you are hooked up. That is a lot of weight to mount on the rear bumper of your trailer unless you can weld up something that is stout.

Carrying it in the bed of the truck which (I have done for years) has its problems. You need to park close to the camper. As we speak Im having a rack made for the back of my 5er to mount my genny and maybe my large cooler.

I added a receiver to my frame and adapted a "hitch-haul" carrier to lock my generator to. I then made a short 6' 50A shorepower cord from an electric range cord and plug it in right around the corner. I wasn't too worried about the extra weight in the back due to the pin weight of my trailer.

A friend of mine went to Harbor Freight and bought a bed mounted hoist that he uses to load and unload his generator and it really works great.

When not in use it is no higher than his truck bed and takes up very little room he did use a backer plate under the bed for additional support.
