During the PDI of my new-to-me TT, we ran water into the holding tanks.

I neglected to dump these tanks before taking my new baby home.

What's the best way for me to find a nearby facility to unload my tanks?

I'm in ZIP code 76248 if that helps...

Hi NogginBoink,

Try here:

Sanidumps

You might also phone the local RV dealership and ask if they know of a dump site.

If it is only clear water, it won't hurt for it to stay in tank or wait for a rainy night and pull the handle. But if you need a dump station, check out a truck stop, RV dealer, campground, or even a sewer clean out in your/a friend's back yard will work.

Since you don't knnow how the previous owner took care of the tank, I'd leave the water in both the grey and black tanks. I'd add some Calgon Water softener and some detergent to clean them out good. Then the next time you go camping, just visit the dump station first and dump them. The sloshing around while you drive will loosen any hardened matter and/or paper and will help everything empty when you do go to do so. Our previous trailer didn't have good black water maintenance and had a paper pyramid in it. We had to use lots of water ans softeners to get everything dissolved and finally everything cleared out.

Sanidumps.com lists over 13,500 locations where you can dump your holding tanks. Updates submitted are normally updated within 24 hours so the site is very current.

Does the Calgon actually work? How long did it take you to get it clean?
My black tank had a paper pyramid in it too when I bought it and even after nearly 4 years I still can't get the tank clean. When I look down there after dumping I still see a big mess in there. Sure would like to get it clean. I am reluctant to get in there with a chisel. . . . .

If you live in a city or near a city you can try their waste water treatment plant. The city I live in offers RV dumping for free.

The only thing *we* put in there was clear water. However, I have no idea what was in the tank before I got to it. (The dealer's a reputable dealer so I'm very confident that they'd empty and probably clean the tanks before putting the used RV on the lot. But not confident enough to dump into the storm drains.)
