We've decided that bunks in Class A's are rare for a reason. It seems that when you find a unit with bunks, they are quite often too short for our 11 year old boy and 13 year old girl and rarely wider in length than 28 inches. Before too long, our kids will be well beyond comfortable sleeping in such a bunk configuration.
So, we're trying to find a few coaches to consider which either feature dual (off-set) hide-a-beds, or something like an opposing "magic bed/couch" and hide-a-bed couch such as the one we saw in the Newmar Ventana 3936.
I specifically don't want to turn the dinette into a bed as I'm typically the first one awake and the last one asleep and I'd like to have the dinette for my morning coffee and newspaper!
If you are aware of any specific DPs with dual hide-a-beds or some type of jack knife AND hide-a-bed configuration, I'd love to check it out.
Thanks!

not a class A, but have you considered a super c?
Something like a Jayco Seneca, 36 feet, triple slides, duramax diesel, and a whole darned bedroom up over the cab.

I think most DP have or have the option for 2 sofas that make into beds. My 05 Allegro Bus has a Magic bed and a jacknife sofa.

A LOT depends on the limitations of the coach. Some DPs have engine compartment intrusion into the rear bedroom under the bed.
Remember that motorhomes can easily be remodeled to suit owner preferences.
Jack Knife sofas suck - not comfortable to sit on and not comfortable to sleep on - same with bench dinettes that convert to beds.
We removed the bed and under bed storage box in our HRambler's bedroom and this opened up the space into a nice multi-purpose room.
Inflatable mattresses for sleeping. Store them away and you have a play room or movie room or video game room during the daytime.
We could have just as easily installed bunks if that had been our preference.
We replaced our jack knife with a wonderful hide-a-bed.
Make it into what YOU want - don't be intimidated - it's just not that hard!

You may also have a look at the Excursion or Discovery 40X. They have an option on the floor plans that the couches are at opposite ends and the dinette is ushaped. Very suitable for what you are looking for. Spent 4 - 6 hours in an Excursion at the FMCA Rally in Bowling Green this summer. Both couches are queen size hide a beds. We too are looking for this type of floorplan and it seems Fleetwood is the only one to have it.

Our 2009 Tiffin Pheaton QTH has a queen size hide-a-bed with airmattress on one side, and a full size jack knife sofa on the other. We also have the booth that turns into a surprisingly large bed for our third child.

you mention jack knife and magic sofa bed like they are interchangeable. they are not, jack knifes are uncomfortable, magic sofa beds are just fine.

Our Newell has that exact setup, two opposing jackknife sofas. They are not the standard Flexsteel torture devices when laid flat.
They hold both my teenage boys ( six foot, two inches) just fine and are big enough they don't fight.
In addition, the totally enclosed potty mid coach gives the adults privacy and again doesn't land lock the coach when someone is in the library.
I am not trying to sell you a Newell, but I have grown up with two teenagers and had a number of RV's until we figured out the floor plan that works. The two couch, mid door, private potty is the ticket.
One thing you want to take a hard look at is the door configuration with doubles up front. We have a mid door and as such are not land locked in the coach while they sleep. Look at the floor plans you are considering and make sure that is not the case, becuase if they are typical teenagers you will rise and shine before they do.
There are several 2000 era Newells with Series 60 engines and slides available for what you will spend for a new coach. Look at the classified board on newellclassic.com
Or PM me if you want to talk about the option of a used high end versus a new mid level rig. Same money, totally different rig.
