Just got home from spending the week at Stanley Lake Idaho. Less than 3 hours NE of Boise and at the foot of the Sawtooth Mountains.

West end of the lake.

East end.

My camp spot.

Well below freezing in the mornings!!!

Which brings me to this.

Pretty soft the first morning as it was really cold. Didn't want to add air as when the sun starts to warm the boat and adds pressure so I didn't want to blow up my blow up boat!!!! So, off across the lake I go. I pour the coal to the mighty Honda 2 horse and all of a sudden the horizontal stabilizers pull loose from the grommets as the boat is not rigid enough to hold them in place!!! The tiller handle goes straight in the air and the prop starts eating the bottom of the boat, right where I am sitting. OK, I am awake now!!!

No damage but before it goes out again I am going to drill and pin those stabilizers!!!!

The fishing was great!!! Catching, mmmmmmmm.........not so much.

Forest, please take note of the Invasive Species sticker on the port side.

That looks a really nice place, DJ.
I bet that was exciting - having an outboard motor trying to come through the boat right under your butt!

A week at Stanley Lake. You are killing me. I need to go there before the snow accumulates. Did you check out Alturas or Petit? Great photos and boat shenanigans.

Joe.

Man, that would be one of MY favorite places too if I lived in Idaho.... Better get some hours in on that boat before you have to trade it in on a sled and an ice shack!

We used to camp there before going down to the put in for the Middle Fork. Great place to be.

Destination - Stanley Lake, Idaho. Check...

The inflatable sounds like a constant source of entertaiment. Wish the fishing was better....pictures of fish in a frying pan are always good in a trip log...better luck next time.

That is a great looking place DJ.

Boating by the seat of your pants! I would have jumped 10' in the air before I got scrambled.

Nice pictures. That AREA is one of our favorites also but we usually stay on the River instead of on the lake. Both the Salmon River and the Payette have some GREAT camping along them.
