I visited this area in OK back in the late 1970s, Tenkiller Lake. I remember it was very pretty, looked like a nice campground. I'd like to go back there someday and camp. OK State Parks And we also went by some of these in Arkansas at the same time.
If you get a chance to go to the Fargo area, there is a neat "Viking Museum" in Moorehead, MN: Hjemkomst Center
Off I-10 on the way to Ft Stockton,Balmorhea State Park is located in the foothills of the Davis Mountains southwest of Balmorhea and nearby Davis Mountains State Park (along with the famous Big Bend Nat'l Park) are very nice places and one could spend a long time at each. Been to all except Davis, but it is nice areas, be sure to visit the old Fort Davis a nice place to see. Balmorhea Big Bend Park maybe not great for a summer trip, but very neat in the fall, winter and spring.
Goliad State Park is located by Goliad with a nice campground on the San Antonio River. (a lot of Texas History in this area, some from same time as the famous Alamo fight) Been to it and would go back.Goliad

In August 2007, we did a small family gathering above Colorado Springs. We enjoyed our trip to Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs area. We camped at South Meadows Campground of the Pike's Nat'l Forest just outside of Woodland Park a few miles. It was a very nice site, the Camp Hosts keep the place spotless. Drawbacks were the pit toilets but they were new and kept clean and no dump site exect down the road off a dirt road with a fee of $10. The $15 camping fee was nice. There are two other campgrounds in the area as well, also several private RV parks. We enjoyed Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods, the Cheyenne Mt. Zoo and visiting with our son and his family. They also went to Cripple Creek and did the cog train ride to Pike's Peak and a day fishing.
A neat area with even more things to see and do.
