Hello all,
I went to winterize my HTT today and when I turned my water pump on it just kept running and not as loud as normal. I made sure that all of my valves were closed went and turned it on again and it still kept running continuosly. So, I figure that the pump is bad so off to CW I went. I bought a new pump get back install it and it is still doing the same exact thing as the old one. Does anyone have any clue what the problem could be? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

I did buy the same pump. I am winterizing so I don't want water in the tank. It won't even suck the antifreez out of the jug. I think I am going to put water in it tomorrow and see if I have a leak somewhere. I just used it last weekend and erverything was fine.

Lines probably were airbound. assuming you were trying to draw antifreeze from a jug, you may need to crack a faucet open to get the pump to pick up.

Did you make sure that you don't have your fill valve switched to tank fill. If you do, it will just keep recirculating the water and never shut off.

Sometimes I have to have some water in the tank to get the pump to prime then it will suck out the antifreeze; then drain the FW Tank, of course.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I'm not sure what's going on I have never had this problem before. I think that I have some sort of leak somewhere and will try and find it by adding water the the FW tank tomorrow.
Thanks Again

Sounds like you are getting air into the pump or a leak down stream from the pump.
The pump turns off when it builds "up" enough pressure what keeps the pump running is low pressure on the output side, air in the input line or an open faucet (lowers the pressure).
