Will the National Park at Crater Lake accomodate a 40ft RV? (I could no find that info on their web site). If not please recommend a camp ground near by. Any other info on things to do or see there would also be appreciated.
I don't know specifically, but when I was there this summer, the park is older and the spots seemed kind of small. Luckily there are about 100 parks within easy driving distance of Crater Lake.
I think you would be happy camping at nearby Diamond Lake. Some great trout fishing too I might add.
I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.
Diamond Lake is the best place for a rig your size. You have two choices. A very pleasant wooded RV park in the trees up the hill from the lake with full hookups, or the national forest campgrounds along the lake which allow generator use.
The spots along the lake are spectacular. The campground is a narrow string of sites that run three miles along the shore. All have fabulous views. There is a convenience store and a pizza place at the south end and a rustic resort at the north end. The lake is circled by an awesome 12 mile paved bike trail that is easy to ride.

If you don't mind a short (about 35 minutes) drive to Crater Lake, stay at Collier Memorial State Park just below the national park. The place will easily accommodate your rig, it is immaculately clean, and it is quiet. Easy in-easy out. Best part was it was $17 a night - for FULL HOOK-UPS. Oregon is slowly developing a lumber industry museum within the park. If you are a mechanical type or are interested in history this will keep you occupied for most of a day.
I just called Diamond Lake RV Park today as was planning a trip up that way next week. They informed me that Sept. 30th is the last day they will be open for this year. Collier State Park is one of the best parks I've visited this year.
Good Luck and Happy Trails

You might consider Diamond Lake Campground close to the Diamond Lake Resort. My book list it as taking up to 42 foot rigs. Nothing mentioned on the website about length. No hooks or dump station though.
