We will be visiting Mystic Seaport area soon and would like to know if anyone has a state park recommendation in the area - 40' motorhome. Thanks so much!
Hammonasset State Park is open until October 31st. No Hookups, but right on the ocean.
Seaport CG is near Mystic, read the comments on rvparkreviews. One of mine is in there. (If you do go there, pay attention to the directions, there's an impossible left turn at a Y otherwise.)You're minutes away from the aquarium and the seaport.
Enjoy your visit!

There is a KOA in that area that used to be called highland orchards before it changed hands it was a nice campground so I am sure it still a nice place, right off exit 92 also close to the casinos if you like that sort of thing
Rocky Neck State Park is much closer to Mystic than Hammonassette (I love Hammo, by the way!). Call and double check that they are open, they close sometime in October, I am not sure when. All State Parks in Connecticut that allow RVs are dry camping, but dump stations and potable water are available. Note: Electric hookups may be available, especially for handicap/medical needs, ask at the camp office.
There are a bunch of private campgrounds near (within 30 minutes) of Mystic... Wolf's Den is in East Haddam, which is also near Gillete Castle State Park (very cool and worth visiting). Witch Meadow and Salem Farms are also within range.
Again, call first to check that campgrounds are open. Most campgrounds start closing in mid-late October.

I heard that as of October 1st, CT State Park fees double

We stayed at Seaport CG way back in 2002. It was formerly a KOA. All sites are flat but it is nothing special - that it could have used a good sprucing-up was the opinion I recall from our visit. If you just need a place to sleep it will fill the bill. If you're looking for "ambiance" you'll need to stay elsewhere.
