Hey Seldomseen - Thanks so much for all of the posts you have recently done. The photos are stupendous!

It pleases me to see that we have saved so much of our gorgeous country for all of us to enjoy. Just like the point that Ken Burns is making in his series "Our National Parks - America's Best Idea" that is on public television this week.

So, even if I can't get out there right now, it should still be there when I can make it. Thanks again!

I certainly HOPE it's still here in a few years....

Seriously, I don't know if the majority of folks living in this country realize what an amazing treasure and resource we have in public lands, especially here in the west (well, I'm pretty sure most TC forum members do anyway).

I can personally attest to the awestruck reaction that international visitors usually have when they are first introduced to our vast landscapes. They are even more amazed when they discover that in most cases the land is open to exploration in an appropriate manner by anyone - even them.

Take advantage of what we take for granted, because they aren't making any more land, but people..... well that's another story

I showed the rangers at Capitol Reef a little rattle snake. They took pictures because it was the first one that they had seen . Capitol Reef is little traveled. I saw my first Bighorn sheep there. Next time take the road south to Brice. It is one of the most white knuckle roads that I have ever been over with a camper. The speed limit is 15 mph but I preferred 10 mph because I have acrophobia and sweated looking down 1000 ft on BOTH sides of the road.

Anyone taking that route to Brice will enjoy Cedar Breaks, Zion, Best Friends Animal Ranch at Kanab and finally the North rim of the Grand Canyon.

I sure agree to the awestruck reaction of international visitors.
Standing at a Bryce canyon over look when a bus full of European tourists arrived. Their gasps could have easily cleaned my dirty camper out had it not been in the parking lot.

Just last night finished watching Ken Burns "Our National Parks - America's Best Idea" on PBS. All six episodes loved the show hated the name "America's Best Idea".
WHAT ABOUT THE IDEA OF A NATION WHERE NATIONAL PARKS COULD BE CREATED.
THAT’S THE BEST IDEA IN MY BOOK…
