What is a good adhesive to adhere styrofoam insulation to the interior metal ceiling of a popup camper? I have to repair the middle section of my ceiling that had water damage and I now have it stripped right to the inside of the metal roof. rather than trial and error and wasted money I hope someone has been down this road, any info will be appreciated.

Also what is a good/proper material to replace the old paneling that looked like it had wall paper over it, anything white with a little strength/back bone to it would probably work fine but stores like lowes and home depot are limited these days on what they carry.

...the only hurdle I can see in this situation (after a good urethane glue is found) is bonding anything to that left-over bead-board adhered to the underside of that metal roof. Gluing even a single sheet of paper to that leftover bead-board will, IMO, be a disaster; one sneeze and it'll come unstuck. Somehow, all that bead-board fluff must be scrubbed off the ceiling before going any further.

Another way to proceed would be to consider oak ballasters (perhaps 0.5 inch by 1 inch wide, by the width of the under-roof) carefully screwed to the metal sheeting up there through 0.5 inch thick EPS (expanded polystyrene insulation board with corrugated thin white RV inside roofing sheeting glued TO IT (how thick is the sheeting? What's on the roof build-up consist of precisely?)...

Good luck,

For the adhesive - you will want to use sikaflex 252

The interior plywood is lauan and is carried at home depot, etc.

Thanks for the quick replys... the origional ceiling is 1 inch styrofoam beadboard glued directly to the metal roof/ceiling with 1/4 inch lauan under that with what looks like wall paper on it. I have already wire brushed the remainder of the styrofoam beadboard off the ceiling. is it common for the lauan to just put wall paper on it for the desired color or is the lauan manufactured that way and can be purchased like that some place?

No, it is an industrial adhesive. I found it on-line at ellsworth. They have a minimum order of $50, you can find it elsewhere at a slightly higher price per tube - with no minimum.

There is no such thing as styrofoam beadboard. Bead board is expanded polystyrene. There is a brand of extruded polystyrene called Styrofoam. It is a brand produced by the Dow chemical Company.

Expanded polystyrene - bead board - and extruded polystyrene are not the same material. They are different in composition, strength and R-value.
