You should be able to get water at a gas station - as long as you are not drinking it - it shouldn't matter.

I usually store mine with water in it, sometimes for months. I usually take that opportunity to sanitize the water tank (chlorine or sanitizer), then dump and rinse with fresh water, then fill. Need to purge the lines as well but that's a quick job. Only thing to "prevent" is getting sanitizer into the on board water filter. Good time to change it -or- just cap it off.

Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

i leave my water tank full all of the time. sanitize it 2x a year with chlorine and dump it. I don't normally drink the tank water but not afraid to drink it either.

My trailer usually sits for 6 months at a time. After one of these 'resting' periods, I decided to inspect the fresh water and emptied a small amount direct from the tank into a clear glass.

Results:
Smelled fine.
Crystal clear.

We always carry separate bottled water for drinking.

I leave it full 100% 100% of the time mostly for emergencies. Since I fill from the Burbank municipal source it is chlorinated, etc. I do dump it once in a while and refill it.

My theory is that if you keep it completlely full there isn't any air to oxidize the water and with no light getting to it it should stay pretty good.

And I do drink it, usually with a little boubon

The bourbon will kill any germs in it.

I keep ours full during hurricane season here on the Gulf Coast. We take bottled water for drinking. If need to will boil water if we run out after a hurricane.

if you want an accurate experiment it needs to be of the same chemical makeup as the water tank, black and then keep it in the shade.
