We just subscribed to Direct TV at the stick house so we could take one of the receivers and a portable dish for TV reception while we travel. My question is this: We will be having someone stay at the stick house while we are on the road. Will we both be able to get satellite service? Thanks

I would say that receiving at two locations would be doubtful. You might be able to pay an additional fee to enable what you want. You would have to contact Direct TV.

Of course you can. Thousands of folk do it everyday. The satellite does not care where you are or how many registered receivers you have or where they are. You will notice no difference at home, except that the TV that had the receiver you took with you will not have satellite reception.

Yes, you definitely can get it at both locations. I've had DirecTV for 6 years and always take one of the receivers on the road when we travel. Have watched DirecTV as far away as Northern Washington, Austin, TX, eastern Oklahoma, while my son at home watches. Each receiver is completely independent from another.

No problems as long as you don't try to have LOCAL channels at both locations. The EASY way to get locals while traveling is with the antennae anyway. If you connect your DTV receiver through your video ports instead of hooking up to the antennae wire, you can use your remote to change the input from air to video to switch back and forth from local channels in the area you're located, to DTV programing.

With Dish you just pay an additional $5 per month and you get another receiver for your RV. Then you don't have to go through the hassle of disconnecting and connecting etc etc. everytime you hit the RV road.

As long as the TV in your sticks & bricks has it's own receiver and the TV in your RV has IT'S own receiver, then the answer to your question is "yes." The only difference between the programming with be that YOU will lose your locals once you leave the spot beam area, but all other programming will be the same.

DirecTV has no idea where your receivers are located unless you connect a phone line from your home location. The receiver sends no information to the satellite.

Just be sure to take the CORRECT remote control along in the RV so as to control the matching receiver.......
