Does anyone know the pros and cons of Microsoft Security Essentials free program? I did a search and got no results.

I installed it and ran it for a few days and then uninstalled it there was only one difference that I could see in the speed of the system and that was when you would open a new internet explorer window there is a slight delay before it is displayed because it checks all programs that you run. Other than that I see nothing wrong or any reason not to use it, I am just not a fan of any anti virus software. In the last 20 years of using computers I have never had a virus on my computer.

The easiest way to find something is: go to search by forum author and type in 2oldman.
He will surely have provided a search result for your post.

Just installed it this week and so far so good. From the Panda AV I was using it seems that the computer runs a little faster and boots up quicker.

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

RV Jim, new version just came out really. The review groups probably haven't had much time to run it through its paces.

Anyone know if it plays well with firefox? You know how MS can be about competitors.
