Hi, I'm brand new to RVing. My SO and I recently bought a 23ft class C RV so that we could travel with the dogs. Our first trip was 2 weeks ago. It was a 5 day trip from NorCal to Washington State and back, about 800 miles in each direction. The first day we went about 550 miles. After that we tried to limit it to about 350 miles/day. We only stayed one night in each place and were on the move every day.
My question is, on a trip like this, where you're moving a lot instead of hanging out in one place, how far do you like to go each day?
I can see putting up with a very long driving day if you're going to be planted for a few days. But after a few days, those all day drives can make one pretty cranky.
TIA, RG

Thanks. I tried to do a search, but didn't come up with anything. That link is perfect.

For me a really long drive is about 150 miles. My silly DW would drive all day and half the night if I didn't insist upon a break.

What works best for us is 250-350 mile per day, prefer to do no more then 300. Like to be in the CG by 3 no later than 4 o'clock to set up. Like to be on the road by 7 AM and keep driving time to less than 8 hours. For us this makes the whole trip relaxing.

There was a time when it was a straight though drive from New Hampshire to Daytona, about 1400 miles. But now 40 years later my days drive is closer to 250 miles.

We pretty much just go until we are ready to stop, although typically I look at 500 miles as a pretty good day. Often we'll stick around 350-400. It also depends on the circumstances. On the way home from vacation this year we drove almost 650 because we didn't want to stay on the road any longer and felt like we could do it. Helps that DW and I get along pretty well on the road (most of the time!).

What I like is less than 500 per day. But depends on where we're going. Many times over the years it's been between 700 to 800 a day.
