The tv should be able to accept the digital converters output. I would put that back in and see if it doesnt work just as well as before.

When in s. diagnostics & it gives you a signal meter...I use it to fine tune over the air channels. Unlike analog...you either have enough signal or you don't...upside no snowy pictures...down side...not as many channels.
ronfisherman is right...consider a first tier tv..they are better made, have better features, & are repairable. 3rd tier tv's are throw aways...& built as such. Not sure about Viewsonic being a tier 1, however I do know they make good monitors. He is dead on the name brands you should stick with.
If me...I would only shop Sony & Samsung.
I put Viewsonic on my list because I have one. For a 22" TV it is a high quality unit.

I replaced our 19" old style (2006) with a new VISIO 22" digital and couldn't be happier. Lots more channels with the antenna than the old. JMHO

Well there, not even through my first morning cup of coffee and I already learned something. I've always wondered which way to aim those darned things. Now I know. Thank you othertonka, and thank you rv.net

Next time you are in a RV park. Look around and see which direction all the antennas are pointed.

Looking around here in the RV park at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta it is obvious that most people do not have a clue. The transmitter towers are clearly visible on the mountain but antennas are pointed every which way.

Well, I figured it out. I put my digital converter back in line and I have all 22 stations back. Thank goodness I depend on satellite for the vast majority of TV viewing, but do like to tune into local stations for weather and news, etc.

Well as others have said, Some tuners are better than others. There are a few other things that can affect it too.
But there is GOOD NEWS
you can,, if you wish, Keep using the converter that works so well.

My Visio 22" could not fine any stations this weekend at a park when others were picking up channels.
I'm going to try to find one of those converter boxes.
