My wife drove our old set-up (26ft bumper tow Forrest RIver) but she wont drive our new (40 ft Weekend Warrior). She did once and it had her really nervous. She can back up our flat bed like no one's business but gets nervous when she cant see the back of the trailer. Driving straight she's fine.

I think my wife would have to let me die if there was an emergency. She doesn't even like to drive my truck...

Like several others have said and that is to take her to a big open area so she can practice driving around put some cones out so she knows who much the back tires track in when making turns. That will save a couple curb checks. Also make sure she knows how tall it is so when she goes to get fuel she doesn't take out the roof. I had to explain that part to my wife and then she watch the RV road trip or whatever that show was on TV and they wedged the motorhome up under the gas station awning.... Then she understood. I will check while we are driving sometimes about what the height of the bridge or gas station was to see if she is paying attention. My wife is like many others and has no desire to drive my rig or attempt to it. One of these days I will get her to as a just in case measure and I get hurt. That tends to happen to me Good luck and let us know how the trip goes.... Make sure the insurance is up to date and lower the deductible for the trip

WELL, way back when,, I attempted to get my wife to drive the truck and get acquainted with the towing, she said no way, I said what if something happened to me, she quickly said you better recover fast to get back to it cause I'm not driving,,WOW!

My DW has no problem towing although she does prefer me to back our TH into our camping sites. She's good at towing in the city, but where I tend to take over is on the freeways and highways primarily because she will tow at 80 mph if I didn't constantly remind her to slow down. Wouldn't have any concerns with her towing or backing in by herself since anybody can do it with a little practice.

My wife is the better backer upper as she grew up on a ranch. She was driving / backing up hay trailer and heavy machinery when she was 11.

If she wants to drive I let her.

Teach your wife, Girl Friend, kids, or whatever you call that person in the Passenger seat! I never had to let my wife drive, until ------ I broke my leg riding.. Thank God I had good friends, they packed my trailer, topped up my truck with gas and got it hooked up to my trailer.. The wife then drove us from Barstow to Pasadena with me in the back seat hopped up on pain killers.. She can't put it away at the house, but I know she can get us home now! I have friends to help put it away...
