Just got back from four days in Yosemite and four more in Pismo Beach.
The first night we stayed at the Coarsegoald KOA because we wanted to be fresh heading in to Yosemite.
On the way out of the KOA they have a tight ninety degree turn followed by a very steep grade. I had the truck in second but as I rounded the bend with no head of steam the truck came to a complete stop.
I dropped it into first and while it climbed up the driveway it shuddered the whole length of the climb.
I was really worried I had screwed something up but my gauges didn't show any increased temperature and the truck worked fine the rest of the vacation.
The other truck with us a pwerstroke had the same experience climbing out of the KOA. Although it was a nice campground I won't chance it again.

Sounds like tired transmissions that hadn't warmed up yet.

I would suspect that there were some OTHER RVs in the parking lot. Doesn't sound that serious to me.

I agree. Sounds like launch shudder to me. At crawling speed in 1st gear, the differential is tipped up under high torque just like a launch with a heavy load. That would be my assumption if all was well since.

More specifically the rear u-joint going through it's phases.

Like Hannibal said, the axle housing was twisted up from the extreme torque load placed on it.

BTW hows come you got the word******to come up in your title bar?

If you post the word******in the posts it just comes up as little stars. See, like this: ******.

As a favor to other RVers, I would suggest that you send an e mail to the KOA park at Coarsegold and see if they can post a sign at the exit to warn RVers to use first gear when leaving as there is a steep hill. Just a suggestion

Looks like you found a glitch in their bad word filter
