Great post. I have been checking both hubs and wheels with back of my ahnd on my travels. I plan on getting a laser, thermal monitor from Sears before my travel to Florida from Cali.
Getting one of them thar fancy temperature detecting thinghys sounds like fun. I'm still doing the old fashioned way. I am in the habit of doing a walk around after sustained high speed travel feeling tires & the rim close to the hub. As long as nothing is more than slightly warm to the touch I'm happy.
