teknomad,
Looks like you're considering a Motor Home rather than a Trailer or Truck Camper. Accident saftey was a big issue for us when purchasing our new Motor Home. We chose to have a small Class C- size bus, converted to a Motor Home. Link to our Rig

With all due respect, language like this is not helpful. Folks on this forum are here to talk all things RVing.

I am not bragging! I am countering the outrageous attacks by a bunch of disrespectful, macho dudes who accused me of never having been anywhere, done anything and being afraid as well.
Where did I accuse you of not traveling anywhere? I simply stated that I didn't care how much or how little you have actually traveled, and I said that because you wanted to brag about all of the places you've traveled and that you've been more places that most of us will never even consider. Yes, that is super arrogant. Take an inventory on your attitude before you want to start whining about junk you have started. Maybe you shouldn't have come across so arrogant in your fist posts of the forum as a newbie. I'm sure you know what they say about first impressions. You created your own image for the community to observe.
BTW... I'm not a mean macho dude. I'm a very kind hearted, loving person.

I think I would wait more than one thread to form an impression on a new poster. First impressions on the internet are fraught with opportunities to make mistakes--we should be extra cautious forming and ESPECIALLY expressing an opinion on those impression after such meager information.
If you are as self-advertised, you would never treat a new member in such a manner. Good heavens, what does the perceived arrogance of the poster have to do with simply answering the question or clicking out of the thread?
Obviously the majority of respondents here read the question and made legitimate attempts to give the OP useful information about buying an RV.
That's not the Southern Hospitality I remember.
We have RV'd for more than 40 years. And I know both worlds as I spent a lot of my professional life running from city to city, hotel to hotel, airplane to taxi, and so on. The term "my own bed" is just the tip of the meaning of that expression. First I find that storing the lawn furnature, rolling up the awing, disonnecting the power, water and sewer to move, loading the Subaru on the car trailer once every couple of weeks is more enjoyable that shoveling snow, caring for the yard in summers heat, paining the house and barn, and other stich house chores. In the MH we have our books, computers, entertainment systems, food and food preperation equipment, and clothes. After traveling 30 + years for business I do not miss dragging a suitcase around, packing and unpacking clothes every night, and doubious over priced hotel food. But that is me and to each his own. I have seen and experienced both and now in semi retirement prefer the RV. Plus the great memories of the kids growing up traveling with us, and the beautiful places that we have been. My favorite you ask? The drive down the Pacific Coast Highway from seattle to San Diego. The big windshield in the MH was our own private I Max Theater.
