I am going to be camping in Yosemite next week. Does anyone know if there is Verizon Cell Phone Service in the Valley? I always like to leave a contact number with the neighbors just in case of emergency.

I recalled we had problems with our Verizon service while in the valley two years ago, but I wasn't positive. So, I checked Verizon's service map and they show no coverage along 41 and 140 in the valley, but service all around the valley and on 140 coming and going from the valley.

None at the RV Park Fishing Village. Spotty elsewhere. Good at Old Faithful area. We were there this spring. (2009)

I have Verizon, and have found little or no coverage on the roads leading the the valley, and good signal strength in a few spots in the valley. Very good around the Ahwahnee Hotel.

Very spotty coverage and that's just the way I like it. When there, I find no need to talk to anyone.

We were there 1 week ago and were able to receive calls and txt messages on our very old Verizon phone. I could also send txt messages. But for some reason couldn't call out. When I wanted to talk to one of the kids I just sent them a txt and they'd call me. Worked great at Curry Village and around the Visitor Center area. Didn't try it anywhere else.

According to tour directors at Yosemite Village, only two cell providers work in the valley. Verizon and ATT both work, but are spotty. The park service gets anal when it comes to cell towers.

Verizon also has service in Tuolomne Meadows area in summer 2009. Centered near the cabins and store, the signal decreases rapidly both east and west. On the east entrance to the park I received no service at the Tioga Pass Resort. Just FYI for those who stumble on this thread next summer.
