At the local breakfast shop (chatter box cafe ) there was a guy from Alaska who just finished talking to his friend who's still is up there. The topic was we're getting the weather that Alaska had two weeks ago.
Currently in Alaska it's in the 60's, so hopefully we'll get a break here from the snow/cold. Then we can make that dash south in comfort.

My nephew is in Eagle River AK and I talked with him last night . Pretty much the same as your conversation . We are thinking one more week of this cold here and then the break of Indian Summer ( maybe Native American Summer now ) will be here to usher us out of here.

I just went to the doctor today, and after some joking around, he actually wrote out a prescription for me to go live in Arizona every winter for my Arthritis!
Now THAT'S a good prognosis.

I love the cold weather, and the snow. I do all my woodworking in the winter. It's just a hobby I don't make any money doing it. I'll get my Ford Jubilee tractor out and clean the driveway then go in and watch it snow some more. Sitting by the window looking out at the snow falling while drinking my coffee is just great, I love it.
I will also take the snow off the roof of our travel trailer while out cleaning the drive way. Would't have it any other way.

It's amazing what less then a month, an RV, and a whole bunch of fuel can do to a person's outlook. 70 degree days, 50 degree nights, life is back to being good again. This Rookie is slowly learning.

Aaaargh! Those two chairs with no one in them did it to me big time! Still sitting here with the rig in the driveway ready to roll on a moments notice of the father-in-laws improved medical state. It looked like we might have to forego a trip south this winter but his condition has steadlily improved and we're getting our feet into the starter's blocks. can't complain though as this week has been beautiful weather here in Ontario.
Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

BruceStarkey - Hope things work out for your Father-in-Law. We went thru that with Joey's Dad three years ago. Isn't an easy thing. Glad to hear things are improving.

Right on the very edge (CLICKY) of Hill Country. After reading the post on Fredericksburg I think that's where we'll head next. Wanted to spend sometime in San Antonio, but traffic on I35 south of here is a little more then I want to deal with.

It can be done though , so don't miss San Antonio if you can get yourself up to it .
