For a friend .. and I might use-it from time to time.
Gas or electric? .. is there THAT much of a diff in the successful operation between a 1400 psi ... to a 2200 psi? ...Is all that extra PSI really needed?
Any other info would be appreciated.

There are a few things that a gas one can do that an electric cannot, but generally the 2200 psi can damage quite a bit of stuff.
Of course the same lot that think you need a one ton dually to pull a pop up will disagree with that! MORE POWER & the BIGGER THE BETTER!

I own 11 HP 3000 psi industrial washer and sometimes I wish I had more power
You need high pressure for deck and concrete cleaning. For engine, or gutter cleaning the 2 HP electric will do.
Pressure washers are lousy car cleaning tools. You still need to brush it to remove sticky dust.

I have an electric 1700 psi cleaner. It does decks and concrete just fine, it just takes more time. The higher the pressure the more care and caution needs to be exercised.

I have a medium size pressure washer. With the right tip it will actually etch concrete. I'm not convinced bigger is better.
With a 10 or 15 degree tip I can't really clean concrete all that well, but a zero degree tip will remove the concrete. I doubt more PSI would help as the concrete would just get eaten away faster.
I got a really good pressure washer cheap at Home Depot some years. They had a 40% off sale on all clearance items.

Hey. I can clean the concrete with my Waterpik (tooth cleaning tool) or even my 3000 psi paint pump.
But cleaning 60 feet of driveway while making 1/16" pass is going to take looong time.
HD and other places have very good rotating tips for cleaning, but I think it requires 6 HP minimum. With my 11 HP washer it makes about 8" wide cleaning path on concrete or about 12" on wood.

I'm perfectly happy with my little electric one. And so is everyone who has borrowed it this summer. I've only had it in my posession for two days since May - it's been passed from friend to friend since then.
Will it knock paint off my house from two stories down? Probably not. But for cleaning the deck and the sidewalk, it's perfect.

IMHO the quality of pressure washers is VERY poor. My electric Simonize continuously breaks a plastic elbow in the handle. The first time it broke it was about a month out of warranty.
My gas takes about a long time to built pressure. Again work OK when brand new.
I think all those that will inject soap, will only do this at low pressure settings which is useless.

Mine will peel the skin off your foot, so my tip is to wear shoes if doing driveways!
I used/use mine to make money on the side doing jobs, so it is gas operated. I also use it on tractors, bush hogs and disc harrows to keep cross contamination (weeds) of fields at the farm.
