Does it really leave a lasting bad taste in the water? On our old camper I used the air-only method with good results. With the new camper I'm considering going the extra step of using antifreeze just because I'm not able to see how the water lines are run and really don't want to chance having a problem come spring. I've read so many different opinions on this that I'm not sure what to do. I guess I need some more input.

Thanks

A lot will disagree with me but I have been using it since the early 90s in my different rv's and have never had a bad taste in my water. I put on average a gallon a year in the water tank and leave it there all winter and flush it out in the spring and have yet to have a taste in my water

I've never had a problem with the "pink stuff" leaving a taste in the lines. My regular spring routine is to first flush the lines with plain water and then do the tank and lines chlorine bleach sanitizing for the season.

I have to agree with FXSTOHIO, I've been using anti-freeze since the 70's and have never had any taste problems. I pump in the anti-freeze and then blow it out, leaving it in the toilet, traps and some in the holding tanks to keep the valves from drying out.

No taste problems; I winterize each year with the pink stuff and have no complaints.

I stored a camper for 3 years with the pink stuff in all the lines and didn't have a smell or taste when taken out of storage.

For the past 4 years I have just blown the lines out.

This year I think I will put a gal or 2 in the fresh water tank an use the pump to circulate then blow out the lines.

Not a good idea. The pink RV antifreeze is already mixed 50/50 with water. That's why they tell you to run it until you get full color. Adding it to the fresh water tank does two things 1) dilutes it with the 2-3 gallons of water that stays in the bottom of the tank and raises the freezing point and 2) it takes many flushings of the tank come spring to remove it.
Buy one of the T kits that go between the tank and pump and draws from a jug of anti freeze and just drain the fresh water tank. The 2-3 gallons left has plent of room to expand. Also don't forget the city water fitting and any outside shower fittings. These we find the major trouble spots come spring when folks forget then and the lines retain water.

I just run it through all lines in the fall. The trailer sits out in temperatures to -40 or lower and have had no problems. Have been doing this for about 12 years. In the spring flush it out well. You may get a slight smell when you first turn on the tap for a day or two then it goes away. I never put it in the water tank or hot water tank as it takes
a while to get out.
