I'm having a problem with my retractable awning (manual spring loaded type). It's getting stuck in the arms along the RV when trying to close it. The awning doesn't want to seat all the way into the arms.
I think the problem is that the pin holding the awning has slipped a little bit out - making it not line up exactly with the arms.
Question - can I loosen the set screw a little to push the pin further into the arm? Or am I looking at disaster because the awning is under a lot of tension and loosening this set screw will cause havoc?
I've included 2 pics, but I don't know if I'm doing it correctly. Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about. It's kind of hard to explain withoug a pic or two.
John.....I'm not sure what you're describing, but often the awning shifts a little to one side or the other and then binds up when rolling it up. If it's off to one side, open it and then have someone at the rear of the awning push it forward (toward front of coach) or back (toward rear of coach) to get it to seat/retract straight.

Yes the awning can slip on the main roller tube and will slide back into postion with a little help. the awning track has a keeper screw in it and so doesn't slip. like the roller tube

I had the same problem with my awning in March while staying at Folsom Lake SP. The campground host named Jerry came over to show me how to correct it. Like the first two posters said, in my case the wind caused it to be a little out of alignment, and with Jerry's help we had the problem corrected in about 30 seconds.

If it's always been like that, it may have been installed improperly. But, sometimes, if your awning strap is rolled up to one side or the other and not spiraled on near the center, it can cause a misalignment. I start mine just one side of center and spiral it on towards, then past center to avoid a lump. Imagine the extreme case of starting the strap at one end and allowing it to wind up directly over itself. That side would certainly wind up tighter and could possibly cause a misalignment.
