Salesman in Gulf Breeze, Florida today told my wife and I the Allegro 35QBA with FRED "is so noisy you can't travel in comfort" and that "you can't reach 65mph" with it. I don't really want to go faster than 65 but wonder if this is correct. How about the noise, is it that bad?? He's trying to sell us a gas, by the way, he doesn't have a FRED in stock. What do y'all think?
Allegro 35QBA, gas or diesel?? Please share your thoughts.

Your choice but I strongly advise you find a FRED on some dealer's lot and take it for a test drive.

True, if the FRED had a early 7.3L powerstroke! You can go faster than 65. The diesel would be preferred over the gas for me. The 6.7L cummins is really pretty quite. Like you said the sales man does not have a FRED. You might want to consider another sales person

I think he is telling you things just to get you to buy what he has in stock.

You are considering a very large expenditure. You should look at, drive, and carefully consider all the different vehicles and manufacturers. That may be somewhat time consuming but certainly worth it.

Decide for yourself by taking a test drive.

I would take a test drive and decide from there. I think you will probably decide the salesman is full of hot air.

Are the salesmans lips moving?

He doesn't care what you want, he wants to sell what he has. Keep looking and drive one yourself.

As others have said take a test drive, the only one that really matters is you and your bride. If you two think it's noisey than it is to noisey. If you like the ride and the noise than it could be perfect.
I would never trust a salesman that is badmouthing a product that he doesn't have at least a competing product to sell, i.e. comperable gas for gas, fred or DP for each class.

We have a 34' Tiffin FRED w/6.7 Cummins. The diesel is a bit more noisey when idling and during acceleration. However, once at speed it is no more nosiey than the V10 I traded for it. It is most certainly capable of exceeding 65 mph, but once you do the benefit of the diesel aka better mpg starts to be negated. I just fueled mine tonight and had been running a 900 mile talley. I used 87 gallons, towing a car and using the the generator occasionally. so that works out to 10+ mpg. I run a bit faster than the previous owner who claimed better than 11 not towing. He is correct about speed, when I ran to Buffalo and back on a hot weekend with everything running and speeds above 65 the mpg dropped into the 9's.

I like to average 60-62 that definitely gets me in the 10's with a toad

I shouldn't complain too loudly about the reduced mpg at higher speeds. My V10 never got more then 9mpg and that was only one time - probably had a tailwind. That coach was also 5 feet shorter and 5,000 pounds lighter and I was happy with 7.5-8.5.
