If someone is breaking into my RV or house I do not presume they are after my possessions. I presume they are after my wife and/or daughter. I will protect them even if I have to go to jail or die.

People that live in the backcountry up here have a saying that goes Shoot, Shovel & Shutup! Remember that when seconds count, the police are minutes or hours away unless they just don't show up at all. In my experience they often don't show up!

TC, I've been following your thread and do sympathize with you. Sometimes these threads take on a life of their own, which is what has happened here. The way I see it, you were telling us that:
1. There are dangerous people out there who might try to enter your camper.
2. The police can be uncooperative.
3. It pays to be prepared to defend yourself.

Please don't give up posting. We've all been in this situation on this forum and we do get over it.

Here's a recent story of a guy camping in wheeler county in oregon - I just camped there in my TC a few months back - it is *very* sparsely populated - around 1000 folks in the entire county...

Very interesting story. As usually is the case, only the survivors get to tell what happened; and that seems to be the case here. The story also mentioned that the deceased was known for being “hot headed”. Hot headed people and handguns are generally a bad mix. More bad for the hot head if they choose to go lightly healed with something like a 9mm.

TC,

You're way less radical than my friend the township police chief. He said don't pull a gun unless you have to but, if you do, shoot to kill. "That way you get to tell the story." That's NOT meant to be humorous, so no flames. I'm just quoting a policeman, who knows he nor his officers an be everywhere.

I'm a 40 year NRA Life Member along with Sleepy and I carry. I think we all understand the gravity of taking up arms but, in some cases like the above post, NOT taking up arms can me tragic.

My $0.02,

Bill

I'll give constructive criticism for your friend.

Next time warning shots are to be delivered into the dirt. You know the backstop that way.

Now if you have a pump shotgun, warning shots aren't necessary. Just chambering a shell is a very well known sound.

I have to laugh when I think what if those idiots tried that to our caravan.
