I have a 2007 Springdale 38 Foot TT with two slides. The TT is on a permanent site and has not been moved since it was new. I am hooked up to shore power all the time. I went to move the bedroom slide in and it would jerk ahead but would not move in. I got the wife to push the button on the switch while I pushed on the slide from outside. We got it to move a couple of inches at a time untill it closed. Now that it is closed it will not open. The slide is tight all the way around except the right bottom corner. I am going to put something in the corner to seal it for the winter and worry about it in the spring.I looked under the trailer and saw no obstuctions, but never thought to check if the motor was engaging properly.Any help would be appreciated as I am a rookie at travel trailers. I use the TT the odd weekend in the winter. Is it okay to sleep in the bedroom slide when it is retracted. Thanks.

my first guess is that your battery is bad,or has a bad connection to ground. clean the battery terminals and connectors

We have a 2006 Sprinter and the slideouts will only work on 12Volt battery power even if you are plugged into shore power.

rusty, in need of lube, fluid in the resevoir for the hydraulics?? my owners guide for my springdale recommends when parked for any lenght of time to bring the slides in and out i think it said once a week. to keep things lubricated and moving smoothly. do you have slide supports? i know they aren't recommended and if you have them, they may have settled causing your slide to bind up.

My guess would be your battery has been fried by sitting with the charger on for that long. No battery power, no slide movement. Put some jumpers on it or replace the battery and you'll PROBABLY have slides again.

Never seen a slide (or other appliances for that matter) that perform as they should without a battery. Are you sure you don't have one? Shore power will keep your battery charged somewhat, but it can also "fry" one if the battery is not checked for water periodically.

My trailer has never had a battery and everything works fine.I do not use supports and the slides are not hydraulic. There is plenty of power going to the slide motor. It feels like it might be binding because the slide pulls to one side then jams. The gear tracks, rollers and slides under the trailer are rusty so lubrication may be the answer. What do you lub with. Is it okay to use the slide bed when it is retracted. Thanks

here's something i found that has helped me immensly. thought my slides were all screwed up and a few shots of this did wonders. i didn't lube the tubes but i did give the rear rollers a shot also.
read here
they say it's for squeeks-but mine were far beyond that stage and have been working quickly and quietly-just like new since i 1st did this.
also may want to drop a batt in there. don't know how true it is or not, but was once told the reason they need a batt is they are alot like car started motors in that they are hi amp draw motors and need the hi cranking amps not supplied by your converter/charger.
