Thanks very much to those with modifications suggestions and for the Newmar tip. I have a space in my current '04 Prowler that would be perfect for a dishwasher drawer. It's the space intended for an entertainment center. We aren't interested in TV but we ARE interested in cooking nice meals. We are considering trading so I'm just checking out options.

To those of you who posted to tell me how completely ridiculous my desire for a dishwasher is, I'm so glad that you're all here to tell me the right way to camp. Without you, how would I know? You know, my own lifestyle is probably just all wrong, what with raising my kids and making nice meals for them while taking long trips. I guess you're right! I'll just live just like you do.

As for the extraordinarily rude remark from Mr FXSTOHIO, here's a video that your post reminds me of:

I hope it gives you a laugh, it sounds like you need one.

Lazy - that's amusing.

Many outside this forum would argue that you all have missed the point of camping by having fancy campers. "Not Roughing it"

to all that have rolled their eyes at Sharon.. Do you need the fancy counter top? Do you need 4 slides? What do you really need? The point of camping in my mind is to get away from the everyday.. Take my family away and perhaps have a good time and see things we wouldn't see at home and the DW and I get to forget about all the stress of normal life for a little while. In my mind that is what it's about. Not proving that I can sleep with a rock in my back, survive the cold, eat with my fingers or wash dishes. It's to relax and enjoy nature and the things it has to offer. I would bet the most of everyone on this forum would agree.

Sharon.. Good luck finding that dishwasher. A happy wife is a happy life!

Sounds like you already have your dishwasher(s). And they will fit into your next trailer too.

But if that is what you want, look at higher end 5'rs. Excel, Carriage, etc. My brother has a Class A DP with a dishwasher. Wishes he did not have it. To hot in summer, Adds humidity, takes up storage room, noisy, more difficult for winterizing. And they end up hand washing the dishes before putting them in the machine. It really doesn't clean all that well. And pots and pans don't fit in well. For the two of them, hand washing is not a problem. Ten minutes and done.

Now a clothes washer/dryer is a different thing. That is a nice addition. Not the combination job. But a stackable unit. But I'll bet this is already on your list too.

While a dishwasher is not high on my priority list, I certainly dont fault you for wanting one nor would I ever accuse you of being Lazy.....some people just dont get it! We all have different lifestyles and by the way RV'ing is a far stretch from camping IMHO. Some need to get out in the real world and maybe visit an RV show to look and see just how many RV's either come with a dishwasher or offer it as an option. So Sharon.....if a dishwasher would make your RV'ing more pleasurable....GO For It!

Hi SharonB,

I use a "poor man's" dishwasher. It is a tub with a tight fitting lid. I place it in the sink, add dishes and hot water. As I drive the water sloshes around and washes the dishes.

I do the same thing for small articles of clothing.

It works well for me. YMMV

Good luck in your search/decision. I hope you find what you're looking and enjoy RVing.....regardless of what some people think. As the younger generation might say: "You go, girl."

These are pretty neat. One is free standing and a few can be built in.

Countertop Dishwashers.

Maybe I'm wrong. Wouldnt be the first time.

Well, because many people don't consider how we travel as camping. If you're F/T you tend to use it as your home while you travel to destinations. We've RV'd for many years, but we only go camping occasionally. Two different worlds.

We don't feel the need for a dishwasher since we don't do a mega amount of cooking, but I can understand it if that's what they want. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla A friend of ours has modified their last two MH's to accomodate a dishwasher, so it can be done if you have the space available.

I think sometimes we forget that the freedoms we have are freedoms not because of celebrities. The freedoms are because of ordinary people who did extraordinary things, who loved this country more than life itself.

I know I learned something this morning. I don't want one, but if you do Sharon go for it. I never knew something like that was made. Neat stuff.
