Over the years I have spent a great deal of time on RV websites.. including RV.net.........but for the past year.. I have not been on RV.net that often....
Today as I browsed thru the Class A posts on RV.net.. it was very evident the bad attitude.. and Smart _ _ _ remarks and attitude's the appear all too frequently. I wonder why that is???
As an example.. on the Tiffin website.... there are often very strong differences of opinion.. but somehow the comments are always "polite". Same on the Escapee website...

Just my observation.... and from what I am reading on RV.net.... I am sure this will get some nasty comments...
This post is not ment as a criticism..........just an observation.

It's not as bad as the attitude of some drivers everyone here puts up with on the freeway but here you can block them.

I agree. It didn't used to be this way here, but now if you ask a question, most of the responders are telling you how stupid you are for wanting to do whatever it is you asked about. For example, a lady asked about dishwashers in a 5th wheel, and most people replied to tell her that she must be joking, or just do the dishes herself.
There used to be a lot of good information on this forum; not so much anymore.

Your observations are "right on" in a general sense.....but while I think most members are kind and considerate in their postings, there always seems to be a select few Know-it-alls that cannot pass up any oppurtunities to be nasty, rude and just plain jerks...IMHO

Most post their own personal opinions and goof up as not to appear as stupid as they really are. Some people are just never wrong.

Every one here is different..what works for me, may or may not work for you. When I was in college many years ago, I had a roommate that we couldn't have been more different. We made a sign that hung in the kitchen that said...
"I will not condemn you for doing it and you will not condemn me for not doing it." Maybe its time to have a little compassion for our differences and enjoy our similarities.

I have to agree with Mike on the smart a__ answers. There seem to be more of them now than in the past. I have noticed more and more WEIGHT POLICE type attitude and answers, it's their way or the highway. Still a lot of really good information on this site but like some folks need to relax and go camping.

I think it is society in general. Today's youth (young adults) seem to have the 'it's all about me' attitude. Kids talking back to their teachers etc, etc... Today's kids just have no respect for their elders. (wait a minute, didn't our parents say that?)

Kit and Kathy,
It is not that I am not considerate of others.. Like I said.. this was just an observation....Seems lots of folks agree that the attitude here is going downhill...from some..
I wonder how most of the other sites.. seem to control this and keep an upbeat, positve attitude???? Something for YOU to consider.

I agree with bmet2000, who is not the first to observe very poor public behavior. This includes non-Internet discourse, but seems to be more prevalent on Internet forums, where some use a "handle" to hide real name. See this discussion of what psychologists call the online disinhibition effect:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_disinhibition_effect

As for RV.net compared to other forums, I suspect you'll find that there is a relationship among size of forum, relative public anonymity, and disinhibition. I find a similar difference between RV.net (a very large forum) and Airforums (a much smaller forum for Airstream owners and wannabes).
