well this past weekend we went for the first of the year camping trip to hodge and my gennie is a onan 5500 gold marquies and it runs great after the first 5 minutes....when i first start it it runs kinda rough but picks up after about 5 min. I want to change the sparkplugs ;does anyone know if they are accessable with out removing the gennie from the cabniet............looks like i might be able to get them out?? anyone have this stumble problem???
Remove tha air cleaner cover and then the air cleaner.....remove the two or three bolts holding the air clearner backing plate on and you should be able to get to both plugs with ease....

They are made to be worked on without having to be removed. Having said that I make no assurance that it's easy or that you won't have to go purchase some U-Joint swivels for your socket. Removing the air cleaner enclosure is recommended and easy.
And I recommend doing it cold since you might find yourself with both arms and part of your head stuck in there.
Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

It has one attached to the carburetor. I would recommend getting a 1/8" fitting to 1/4" fuel line adapter and putting that in instead. Then add a clear filter inline somewhere and carry a spare. It's a low pressure fuel system so hose clamps are fine. I just had mine start leaking and have the replacement parts in the toolbox. You will find other posts on this subject but basically the design of the original filter is poor and poorly placed for ease of maintenance.
If you don't have the Owner's Manual, Check this source. Onan Owners Manuals
This should provide directions for doing all the standard maintenance tasks. My rule is to replace anything that I remove in the way of filters, etc. since my labor rate is pretty cheap.
