I hate to whine, but a trend has started where the subject line is a teaser. I don't own a Nuvi nor do I use Verizon, so neither of these threads is of interest to me, but I do end up wasting my time looking to see what they are about. Even worse is a week later when they pop back up with a current post, I forget that I already went through the exercise.

You can't fight it! It's called embellishment.

CNN News Headline-"English Speaking Children Barred from riding the school bus!"
Actual story boiled down to-"The reason Armstrong's children were ineligible to ride the bus was that they lived outside the school's attendance area."

European Medical Journal Headline-"Bra's Shown to Cause Cancer!" Actual story was based on a flawed 20 year old study that had been proved to be without evidence. You are more likely to get cancer from wearing a g-string!

Even Ben Franklin was fond of manufacturing and printing elaborate and eloquent headlines on his printed newspapers and flyer's to pique the interest of readers!

And remember P.T. Barnum? He elevated the misleading headline to an art form! And by the way, "This way to the Egress". >>>

Closely related is the subject line with no info at all. For instance: "Question" or "Please Help!". I don't read those because if the person can't give a little more info than that...

Thanks to the mouse hover feature, at least I don't have to open the "What if... " post to see the first words, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Don't think it's ever going to get any better.

Subjects that actually give us a hint of what the O/P wants/needs.

You must be kidding.

YES!

And while we're at it how about a short description of where a link will lead. Some use silliness like "HERE" or "L@@K".

And how about avoiding useless replies admonishing the original poster to "google", search" or "find". Heck, if you can't post a helpful response, why bother?

anyway, good idea. but it will never happen. ignore them. just like those that can't figure out the purpose of the 'shift' key. lol

Another useless response commonly seen is, "I don't have that problem" or "Mine is working OK". It does no good to tell the OP about your good fortune to not have the problem if you can't help them diagnose and fix their problem .

I think it depends on the problem. Knowing that a problem is not universal is a useful piece of knowledge to have, when troubleshooting.
