So again can you tell me how this new BILL is going to help us?
So if they could do all that stuff before, and still will be able to do it later, why then the almost panic that CC companies are going to slash rewards & raise rates/fees (any more than they are doing now)?

Raise your credit limit without even asking, so you can hang yourself even further. I know someone will say that you don't have to use it, but...............many people don't intend to get into trouble but still manage to do it. The road to h, e, double hockey sticks is paved with good intentions. Credit cards are EVIL.
Just terrible . . . Millions of responsible CC users out there.

I know credit cards use to be necessary for flights, car rentals and such but debit cards can take care of these needs now. Except for store cards that give deals to their card holders, is there really any reason to even have a credit card now-a-days?

I just got $50 worth of reasons why to keep credit cards (and will get $250 worth of reason in a month or two). Also, not all airline & car rentals accept debit cards (I've run into signs at rental car facilities about not accepting debit cards, but since I always use a cc, I've not really paid attention to the notices).
Huh ? .. for some maybe .. but for those who "use" them as a tool ... no way.
I will BET that the one card I use the most-est .... a Meijer Mastercard .. has saved me over the 5 years I have had it ...
...... AT LEAST $ 5,000.00.
How? ...with discounts and rebates through the Meijer store AND and a BIG MAJOR PLUS ... dealing with PayPal and with some UNethical business people who have tried to "steal" from me.
Wife has Bof A CC I have one.. She got notice on hers months back, on mine No..... I since closed thier accoutnts and checking savings..they want to screw me on the CC's kiss off on any bussines... What it is they are in trouble and with the new CC laws coming out places are having well the interest goes up, pay it keep your card open or close the CC and continue current rate..
B of A is in trouble..

I guess that if you carry a balance and pay them interest they will let you slide a little while longer.
I have a BofA card and so far, no such notice. When (and if) I do, it will go the way of the trash can (after first slicing it in twain).

"why then the almost panic"? Maybe some people just like to panic.
If Sears sees a way to get more money out of people by raising CC rates then Pay cash.
OH, you don't have cash and no auto teller account either?
Well then, DON'T BUY IT.
Instant gratification cost people a lot of money.
We want a LCD TV of a certain size, 1080P and 240HZ. We will wait till we can put it on the CC for 30 days, then pay it off.
Sears might someday have what you want, at the price you want, and you'll miss it by being PO'd. Write them a check.
