Hi,
Our BCAA is about to expire, we have the RV Plus but have heard that Coachnet and GoodSam are better. We're talking about in Canada. What are others experiences. We've only had to have our Class A towed once on the RV Plus (thankfully) when we were in Wyoming. They were great.
We also have another car so we want to have that covered as well.

As for maps, we've got lots so there is no need for maps and I really don't care for their Camp Books. I guess this is more about cost & service. We stopped using them for our Travel Insurance as they were way more expensive than Pacific Blue Cross.

Thanks

I have AMA (Alberta Motor Association) RV+ and called them once this summer. Came right to the campsite to change a tire on my trailer. Have used AMA for the vehicle in the past. Only takes one tow to make it pay for itself. As for travel tip, I have had the travel trip-tiks (I think that's what they are called) It is the individually created travel guide/map from point A to point B. Used it for a trip from Alberta to Mississippi. Work great. Better than trying to sort out the big maps, and had lots of extra info specific to our trip. A nice freebie for a long trip.

I'm a fan of BCAA. We also have RV Plus but tend to use it more for our daily drivers. Have only broke down once with the RV and that was years ago.

Have had great service wherever we've been located. Most campgrounds that honour Good Sam will also honour BCAA, so we still get the discounts.

Also like the discounts for membership when points are collected ... with Husky stations throughout BC, and fueling up there each vacation, it's easy to get a substantial cost reduction on membership cost.

After 30 years with CAA/AAA we switched to Good Sam two years ago. We only used CAA/AAA once for our RV and that was to have a flat tire changed in Florida. Reports about inconsistencies with CAA/AAA's service vis a vis RV service from one region to another and the good things we were hearing about Good Sam caused us to switch. One year after the switch we had a major breakdown on Labor Day weekend 3000 miles away from home in San Diego, CA and Good Sam was excellent. They first sent out a mobile mechanic to see if he could get us going and when that didn't work they sent out a tow truck to take us to the service facility of our choice. They called us back each time to tell us when we could expect the service personnel and called us back again to ensure the service personnel had arrived. We are glad we switched.

With the great on-line mapping sites sites that exist now, S&T, Google Earth etc etc plus GPS technology, we found we were no longer using CAA/AAA's stuff anyway. Good Sam also has similar tools as well.

It's part of our RV insurance with Progressive. The only thing lacking is technical advice.

From what I have read on this forum, BCAA is an exception to other parts of CAA.

From my own checks CAA wasn't up to speed for less populated areas.

When I got my ERS, I called around Good Sam could tell me the names of places where they have service centre contacts in Newfoundland and Labrador. & you have to admit these are that high density population places.

So, in my mind it comes down to where you will be using your rig.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

After using BCAA for many years I switched to Good Sam because it was so much cheaper for both of our vehicles and our 5th wheel.

I have used Good Sam on three occasions and found their service to be quite acceptable

I am switching to good sam, I will retain my basic BCAA & drop RV plus. BCAA is still good for travel guides & medical insurance. One reason is I heard Good Sam does offer some assistance in mexico.

I have Coach-Net and the coverage that came with our insurance policy. Luckily I haven't had to use either so far through many years of rving so I can't comment on their effectiveness.

This past spring when we returned from the south my car in our parking garage had a flat battery.
I tried to called Good Sam from the garage but could not get through with my cell so went up to our condo and called on the land line. When they found out my car was still covered by the manufacturers road service they told me they would call them. I told them OK then they wanted the vin # and when I told them that I was not with the car they told me I would have to go and get the #. I reminded them that I paid G/S for the service and that the car was listed on there records as our second vehicle. She then said OK. I then went down to wait at the car. When no one came in at hour I then called manufacturers (Acura) road service plan and they were there in short time. The next day I got a call back from G/S and asked if I had been looked after? There was a call from me in there system but they did not show that anyone had been sent. When my G/S plan runs out in December after being with G/S for 8 years. I am going to try Coach-Net.
