I just saw a commercial to have your kid implanted with a computer chip featuring balloon boy.

...and so, Mr Terrorist, just have a family member say that their kid is in the contraption, or their 80 year old grandma, or their poodle. You'll be safe from those pesky air to ground missles.

That's why they make hostages.

Are you kidding?!??! That could almost make this whole incident a viral event.

they were very clear to point out that they would be going to a delayed broadcast before the balloon landed.

Too bad they didn't go to delayed broadcast when the kid barfed on tv this morning.

After watching some of the interviews with the kids and their parents, I feel bad for the children and what growing up is going to be like with those two 'adults'.

People sure are quick to judge before all the facts are in. They may be bad parents, or they may be good. Fact is none of you know the whole story on this event, or these parents. Media will play it one way or the other just to feed the beast. It's all about ratings. Oh and reality shows are edited in case you didn't know.

Could it be that people are so bored with everyday life that they hop on any story just for the excitement and then start blowing things out of proportion.

So many folks believe everything they see on the news and then, like the game "Whispering Down the Lane", retell the story, but with they're own versions.

The same is found in Court Trials, where the suspect is found guilty before the case even goes the the Jury.

I watched the first part of that video, saw no door or entrance point and said to myself, "HOAX".

What next? Little Green Men in shopping malls molesting Auto Teller Machines because they reminded of a girlfriend back on Planet X?

I had to edit this by putting in Emoticons so it is better understood.

Fox News is showing a home video of the PARENTS launching the balloon. hmmmm.

Yeah - I just read about that part......

*Assuming* this planned launch was a very big deal to the family (why else would they have taped it, with both parents and 2 of the 3 kids present?) - wouldn't you, as a parent, look around and think "Where's Falcon?" He should be watching this?????????

Wouldn't you go looking for him FIRST?????

If this turns out to be a hoax (and it sure smells that way)- the parents should pay for the rescue. Or else every media-craving nutcase is going to be staging "dramatic footage to be aired at 10"

The next question is why so much coverage to begin with. Since when would the news show a child die live?

Although your question makes perfect sense to normal people, of course the news media would jump all over this. It's what they live for and you can bet they would have shown whatever happened live.

You also have to remember some people in this country lap up this kind of news drama and will sit for hours glued to the tube to watch the outcome. Anyone remember the white ford bronco chase?
