I quote from the thread maker OP and quote:
"Chinese carmakers SAIC and Dongfeng have plans to acquire GM and Chrysler, China’s 21st Century Business Herald reports today… The paper cites a senior official of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology– the state regulator of China’s auto industry– who dropped the hint that “the auto manufacturing giants in China, such as Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) and Dongfeng Motor Corporation, have the capability and intention to buy some assets of the two crisis-plagued American automakers.”
I'm a little confused...two different statements in this paragraph.."..plans to acquire GM and Chrysler.."...and then "...have the capability and intention to buy some assets of the two crisis plagued American automakers..
Well which is it ?

Those Chinese boys already hold the paper. All they have to do is call in the loan.

I still like the one from the 1970's when Toyota first hit America and there was talk about a merger with Chevrolet. The deal looked pretty certain as I remember until a bunch of board members met with each other and tried to come up with a classy name for their new automobile. The deal was almost finalized until they announced the name of the new car to the public and the public went bizzerk! I do remember this! The new car was to be called "Toy-let!"
Well, I remember the story, but I don't know if it was true or not!

Just read in the news other day where China people are just rolling in money and lots of super rich people. They have the resources to buy anything they wish. The sad thing is, our country is still borrowing money from them just of operate on.

It's our fault, not the Chinese. I saw an interview with the ex prime minister of Australia, a very good conservative leader. He bemoaned the tendency of politicians to buy votes by creating all kinds of goodies. He was asked, "When will the politicians quit those kind of irresponsible projects?" He said, "When no one will loan them any more money."
He overlooked the printing press, though. Inflation will be the biggest tax of all!

Remember? we all bought into GM ad Chrysler a few months ago.
You have to remember that there are hundreds of posts every week, so unless you check out every post in the search section, you would not know about the other post. Plus there are many duplicate posts on the same subjects, and with many, many, different answers and ideas.
If memory serves me the good Captain posted that when it can out, I’ am right aren’t I Capt?
