- A Montana woman who bought a used motor home she said was so drenched in pet urine that even $17,000 in repairs and janitorial work couldn't salvage it can sue the dealer, the Montana Supreme Court ruled.
For the rest of the story.

Why would anyone not notice that before the sale is beyond me and then go ahead and buy!!!! Had to be a smell of some kind I would think.

I have noticed extreme differences in the stink based on heat/humidity/etc. I had to rip out the lower 2 ft of drywall, grind away floor plywood, etc. in a stick house.

If the buyer did not notice the problem while inspecting the motor home before buying, how could the dealer be expected to know?
I would think that a buyer would be much more diligent in inspecting the unit than a dealer who after all, gives a cursory examination at best.
I`ll bet if she had found ten thousand under the mattress, she would not have blamed the dealer for sloppy house cleaning!

By all means, let's play 'blame the victim'. As the article stated, 'When the weather warmed up, the motor home began to smell'.

I seem to find it impossible to miss any type of pet urine smell...sure it will be stronger with the presence of more heat but pet urine smell is not something you can miss at any time...

You can "blame the victim" to the extent that she did not read her sales contract and be made aware of how recourse was to be handled.
That wasn't hidden in the carpet waiting for warm weather.
That's the real story here.

$135K for a 4 year old Alfa? Geez, this woman was dumber than a sock. I guess she figured out how to get out from under a bad deal. It would be interesting to find out exactly what kind of "pet" left urine in that great a quantity. Maybe a two legged one.

To my understanding winning the case would require proof that the selling agent knew about the urine. Good luck with that.
I always admire people who spend 135 grands on coach and don't even inspect it.
Than after serious accident they start asking "what was the coach roll over rating?"
