It about time to think about the Part D thing again.. Just wanting to know has anyone checked out the rates yet? We have Advanta RX (Coventry) and just received the notice to renew and seems the rate has gone up about 10.00 per mo and they have added a deductable also(100.00).
Looking for a cheaper rate? would like to hear from someone that does not use too many drugs etc. Marvin

Last year we used the "compare drug plans" on the Medicare site to research the best price for what we needed which ended up being Silverscript. I don't know if they have updated it for this year or not though. When our insurance guy that we had used in the past called to say that he can find us the best insurance for the cheapest price we told him that we needed a policy that would cover us in the gap for at least generic drugs because of all the medications my wife takes. He told us that there was no longer and companies that covered in the gap and that they had all went out of business the year before. When I mentioned the one that I had found on the Medicare site he said "oh we don't carry that companies policies because they required us to go to their seminar first before handling their policies". I told him thanks for his time and signed up for Silverscript linked right from the Medicare site. They were the only one that covered anything in the gap and I'm guessing it saved us thousands of dollars. Hopefully there is one with gap coverage this year. Hope this helps, Jeff.

You can't change until after November 15. I would wait until then to the medicare website to compare available plans in your area. The compararison tool on the medicare website will determine what plans will cost based on the drugs you take. Nobody else's opinion about their own plan should matter much to you.

compare plans

Get your info and do the work. It is different in every area.

Last year I received some good info about the coverage plans here, first hand, I do not take much, a couple of generics but DW has a basket full, so I pay more than the drugs cost and she goes into the gap about july. so it is kinda a double whammy. Our plan(just got the renewal notice) went up over 10.00per mo. and then they added 100.00deductable.
Thanks for the info, I will check out Medicare site also...

Have gotten notice that Blue Cross Blue Shield will not carry the Plan C and Plan D that we currently have after the first of the year. Have asked that they forward information on whatever they will offer as I hesitate to change carriers because of my husband's medical history. Most younger people are amazed that between Medicare and BCBS we are paying over $400 per month for just the two of us. They assumed that Medicare was free for retirees.
