Do you have insurance commissioners like the USA does in every State?

That's who I would contact if I got one of those letters and I have state farm in the USA.

Surely someone in the gov't is in control of insurance company's ?

Here there called the insurance commissioners that tell insurance company's what kind of insurance they may sell for your state. They also check too see if there properly funded, what type of policy's can be sold, etc;
