Has anyone stayed at either the Bonita Vista Resort or the Superstition Sunrise RV Resorts in Apache Junction, AZ. We are trying to get information for 2010-2011 season. Is the Apache Junction area congested? This will be our first visit to Arizona and we are trying to get a central location, but not overly congested.

Apache Junction is correctly an extension of Meas, Mesa being the 3rd largest city in Arizona.

"Congested"- that is relative!! AJ is east of Mesa and all of those areas just run end-to-end of each other. Since AJ is the most eastern part of the sprawl, it's not as "congested" as you get into the more developed and longer established spread of all of the bedroom communities in the Valley of the Sun. Just don't head west on I-10 during morning or afternoon rush hour times!! They should just about have the 200(?) loops around the east side finished that may help that.

The "old" part of AJ is still a managable main street, with the mall sprawl closer to the freeways.

Sorry I can't help you with the pros and cons of the 2 parks that you asked about.

Good luck and you'll really enjoy the sun and weather!

We have always stayed at the KOA when passing thru. Do not know how it would be for long term.

We stayed for a week at the Apache Junction KOA in Jan. 08 and thought it was the perfect spot in the Phoenix area. All the features and attractions of a major metro area but least congested and easy to get around. If I go back to that area, it will be to Apache Junction. Sorry, I can't offer any comments on the parks you mentioned, just the area.

head farther west on I-10, the other side of Phoenix. Not congested at all. Once you get away from Buckeye, you're in the open desert all the way to the Colorado River. Check out Salome, Quartzsite, Brenda, parker. Lots of nice desert scenary.

We stayed at the Sunrise Resort on Broadway in Apache Junction last winter. We were quite happy with the facilities and the friendliness of the other people there. We plan a cross country trip to Florida this winter, but will be staying at the Sunrise both going and returning. Apache Junction is part of the greater Phoenix area and as such does have morning and evening traffic congestion, but why on earth would you want to be out during rush hour, LOL.

Next town East is Gold Canyon and there is less traffic. We stay at Canyon Vistas RV Resort in Gold Canyon. Great park with beautiful views of the mountains. The key is to not travel on the roads early in the morning when you are competing with commuter traffic.

AJ is is at the farther est east side of the Phoenix Metroplex. Very easy to get around yet close enough to Mesa and Phoenix for whatever. We have spent the Last 3 winters in Gold Canyon just a few miles east of AJ and are going back in Jan.If you are concerned about congestion you may want to checkout Casa Grande, Az. about 30 minutes south of the Pheonix area on I10.

Enjoy the Road
