I am looking for a campground 10-40 miles from the Boothbay Maine area. I have a friend I would like to visit and see the sites. Need full hookups as the kids want one more vacation with mom and dad. Would like waterfront for the kayaks if possible. I see one in Wisscasset and one in the Edgecomb/boothbay area but would appreciate any comments on either.

We camped at Shore Hills just outside Boothbay some years ago & loved it. Waterfront will depend on the campsite, of course, and would be better described as a tidal inlet - at high tide there will be water, but at low tide it looks more like grasses. Nice CG; we'd stay there again, and friends who went last year loved it as well.

Chewonki CG in Wiscasset is a nice campground, very scenic setting, on a tidal inlet. Easy drive to Boothbay from there. We camped in June & really liked it.

We were at Shore Hills a few weeks ago. We were down by the water in the trees. No WIFI down there but big site & secluded. That area of CG has the feel of a SP.

You are planning for next year I hope. 99% of all Maine CG's closed last weekend.

Shore Hills is excellent.
