Well, I finally thought I decided on buying the Reese Dual Cam hitch for my newly acquired Starcraft 21SS0. I went to campers World over the weekend to see what kind of price they could give me and the woman told me that they don't recommend swat control under 27 feet?!?!?! seems silly to me. I'm talking about a 5000 lb GVW here. I think I'm going to buy it anyways, I just won't be going back to that shop!

If that was the Chichester store run, don't walk!

You need sway/weight control. Although, I would suggest the Equalizer system through RVWholesalers.com - they will ship it to your door and they've got the best price around.

I have a Starcraft 21SSO, towing with a Chevy Tahoe, and rarely if ever even put on the sway control. Just speaking from my own personal situation so no flames please on what should or should not be done. But for me rarely if ever needed.

The RV store told my father in law the same thing, he didn't need the Reese dual cam and sway control for his 21ft Fun Finder being towed by his Tundra. They said that it was way over kill. He insisted, and the last trip with the 40-50mph gusty winds, he was glad to have it!!

This is why I don't mind shopping for a good price on the internet when I purchase items. Seems like at most stores the folks that work there know less than I do (BTW...pick a topic, it never seems to fail.....and no, I don't think I am an expert on everything....). Or they wind up trying to sell you something you don't want or need.

BTW, I tow my Kiwi with an "overkill" 3/4 ton pickup and I am still glad I have my Equalizer hitch. Rain, Snow/Ice (that's right), wind, etc.....always glad I have it.

you can get the Equal-i-zer from RVWholesalers for $459 delivered. use that to compare prices.

i did read somewhere that the Dual-Cam was better for longer, heavier trailers, where the Equalizer was better for ultra-lite trailers.

Check with your trailer manufacturer, check on the recommendations from your WDH manufacturer.

Odd that she passed a chance to make a sale.

I'm towing a 21SSO and using a Dual Cam. I needed a WD hitch and I figured using a DC was better than adding a separate friction sway control.

You almost certainly need a WDH for any hybrid. Why would you NOT want the added benefit of good sway control.

We've had excellent service from our Equalizer thru five seasons with the Roo 23SS. 700+ pounds of tongue weight needs a WDH for sure to put weight back on the front wheels and off the rear. Built in sway control takes no additional setup or effort.
