I know there has been much discussion about triple towing, but I have not seen much about the 'swivel wheel' concept. I really would like to carry my motorcycle behind my 32' 5th. Of course, safety is my number one issue, and I'm a little afraid of towing with a ball and hitch. Has anyone tried one of these? If so, what is your opinion? I like the idea that you can back up with one of these attached...

Tripple tow is three trailers. Double tow is two trailers.
The swivel trailer for motor cycles seems popular and pops up on occassion in the 5th wheel forum. If I can find previous threads I'll post them for ya'. I'm dial up and it takes a while just to change page.

That brings back memories! In 1957 my mother drove from Michigan to California with 3 kids while towing a small single-wheel covered trailer. She didn't think she could handle a regular trailer on a ball.
No problems that I recall except the sharp jerk as the wheel spun around when backing.

They seem like a pretty good idea if you need to improvise a toy hauler just for the toy.

I'd think a trailer would be much easier to use than one of these. Can be much more quickly taken off and moved, if needed (try moving the swivelwheel around); a trailer could also be moved while loaded, if the need arose. I've seen some awful big loads towed with a ball hitch behind a fiver with no problems.

Be sure to check your State Laws. Apparently, some States consider them a frame extension, not a trailer. Some states consider them trailers.
Good luck.

Lyle, the big advantage of the swivel wheel type trailers is that you don't have to unhook it. You simply can back up with the trailer attached. If you do have to move it, on mine anyway, there are two wheel jacks that pivot down to support the front of the trailer when you unhook from the towing vehicle. You can then move the swivel wheel trailer if necessary. I've only had to do this once to get the trailer in a better position to unload our bikes, as the 5er was all set up and I didn't want to move it.
Also, my SmartTrailer attaches to the towing vehicle using a single receiver. So you don't need any special type of hitch fabricated. It works very well for us, but YMMV.

I've been useing one for 3 years now. I love it and it gets the job done. The only problem so far has been the cheap chinese tire that come with it, make sure you have a spare. I have it on a 38' 5th wheel, with the swivel wheel, trailer and truck I'm 60' going down the road. I've towed it in every state east of the rockies and never even been looked at twice by law enforcement.

Hi Jim, I met Jim at the Suites Rally in Goshen Ind. in June and seen his rig. Its a awesome set up, when he rolled in and I seen the rig I thought this will be interesting? Jim proceeded to back his Mobile Suites and the Swivel wheel trailer into his site and of course it worked like a charm. I really don't think he ever unhooked from the swivel trailer while at the rally. I have since seen several Swivel trailers being used. I think its the only way to transport a Harley or any Motorcycle. GBY....

Howdy!
Another options is the Idaho Tote. I've had one for a couple of years and it works. The great thing about the Idaho Tote is that it has a single axle and has 15" tires and has it on brake system. I carry a Yamaha Rhino on ours. I have also received great customer service for the company. They are more expensive than the swivel wheel systems but very well made and I feel worth the price.
